The RDX was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/861413\/honda-acura-rdx-two-motor-hybrid-base-station-rv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced earlier this year<\/a> as Honda&#8217;s first SUV to feature the next-gen version of its two-motor hybrid system. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.theverge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/Honda-Hybrid-Sedan-Prototype.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;crop=0,0,100,100\" alt=\"A prototype of a hybrid Honda Accord sedan\" title=\"A prototype of a hybrid Honda Accord sedan\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"Image: Honda\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Honda also announced it&#8217;s dropping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/4\/23\/22399212\/honda-gas-car-phase-out-2040-electric-vehicle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the goal of having one-fifth of its sales be EVs by 2030<\/a>, and for 100 percent of its sales to come from EVs and fuel cell vehicles by 2040.
